Marrakesh, Marocco

In the Souks of Marrakesh

The Souks of Marakesh are the largest in Marocco. A “Souk” is an Arabian word, and means market or “bazaar”.

What makes the souks or markets in Marrakesh so fabulous is the presence of exotic items like babouches, lanterns, tagines, bouchnikha’s, carpets, leather goods in addition to the local fruits, vegetables and spices.

For photographers it is a dream to go there. This was my personal experience on my first trip to Marrakech. I didn’t have that much time, so I decide to go there always in the morning and in the evening.

The opening and the closing time for me had a very special flair. Without tourists and people on the streets, when the sun was coming up and slowly step by step the life in the souks awake.
